Adopt-a-Barangay Manga is one of the integrated extension project of the university in its effort to strengthen community involvement of the academe, community relations and university social responsibility with the direction of promoting sustainable communities.

Manga is one of the 15 barangays in Tagbilaran City. Located 5.8 kilometers away from the University of Bohol, it is a fishing community with a population of 5,224. It considered Manga as a geographically isolated and depressed area (GIDA) of the city.

Manga Elementary School is the adopted school of University Junior High School under the program. It is the 3rd largest elementary school of the City of Tagbilaran, with its Kindergarten to grade 6 enrolment of 956 as of June, 2017.

    • Remedial in vowel and consonant sounds, consonant blends/diphthongs
    • Leadership Camp
    • Sports Clinic (Sipa Takraw)

The College of Liberal Arts implemented literacy programs and leadership capability buildings among students of Manga National High School.

    Activities included :
    • Trainings/workshops on impromptu, extemporaneous speaking, role playing and small group communication
    • Trainings/workshops on hosting
    • Simple logical reasoning exercises using analogies/simple speaking activities
    • English communication enhancement on speech and speech styles
    • Learning sessions on Leadership
    • Peer Facilitators Activity

The Victoriano D. Tirol Advanced Learning Center (VDT-ALC) partnered with the Barangay Day Care Center and Magsaysay Day Care Center in the sharing of resources, arts workshop and story-telling activities with the pupils.



The Colleges of Midwifery, Pharmacy and Physical and Occupational Therapy worked as a team in addressing the community’s maternal and child health problems as well as the gaps on the delivery of health services. Activities included: Literacy programs and workshops on reproductive health, nutrition, pre and post-delivery exercises, hygiene and health education.




The College of Engineering - Computer Science Department is working together with the Barangay Health Medical Officer and staff on the computerization of healthrecords of the patients and services received thru a manage information system. They will also provide for a computer literacy program thru trainings and workshops on MS Word, Excel and the use of the program that is provided by the college.
