UBCoN Joins Cataract Mission

The University of Bohol College of Nursing, headed by Dean Lalaine Lao-Domapias, has actively supported the recent Cataract Surgical Mission screening spearheaded by the Gift of Life – Heart Center Philippines Foundation, Inc. and International Academy of Medical Services last April 21-22, 2022, at Barangay Cogon gymnasium, Tagbilaran City. Bohol.

Dubbed Operation Klaro-Bohol Gift of Sight, the 2-day surgical mission successfully provided free screening, physical check-up, ocular biometry, and cataract operation. A total of 1,000 Boholanos coming from the three Congressional Districts of Bohol have been served.

The Gift of Life is headed by Nurse Francisca Baluyot, President and Chief Executive officer, while Dr. Frederico Malubay chairs the International Academy of Medical Services. Taking part as volunteer groups were the Philippine Nurses Association, and Mother and Child Nurses Association, Bohol Chapters, both headed by Prof. Melinda Pausanos. Bohol Chocolate Hills Lions Club, UB College of Nursing Faculty, Staff, and UB CON Student volunteers were there as well as from other schools in Bohol; HNU, BISU and BIT.
