UB joins World Diabetes Day 2019

The University of Bohol (UB) co-sponsored this year’s World Diabetes Day celebration last November 14, 2019.

The annual event was spearheaded by the Diabetes Philippines Bohol Chapter, Inc. together with the Bohol Medical Society, Philippine Academy of Family Physicians, Association of Medical Representatives in Bohol, and Philippine Nurses Association. It aimed to raise awareness on the effects of diabetes and promote the management, care, prevention, and education of diabetes.

The activity started with a motorcade followed by a medical mission at the Bohol Cultural Center and a lecture on the Preventive and Humane Care of Diabetes at the UB - Instructional Media Center.

The lecture was given by Dr. Jeimeen Agra and Dr. Catherine Carlos from the Institute for Studies on Diabetes Foundation, Inc., and was attended by the deans, faculty members and students of the College of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy, College of Pharmacy, College of Midwifery, and College of Nursing.

The activity culminated with the creation of the unity sign, which is a blue circle and signifies the unity of the global diabetes community in response to the rising number of people affected by diabetes. The blue circle is the universal symbol for diabetes.
