Ma. Vanessa Karaan, a Grade 12 student of the University of Bohol - Victoriano D. Tirol Advanced Learning Center (UB-VDTALC) bagged one gold and two silver medals during the National 6 in 1 Weightlifting Championship held last July 14-20, 2019, at the New Weightlifting Gym in Manila.

Karaan clinched gold in the 55kg. Junior Women Division and silver medals in the 55kg. Secondary Girls Division and 55kg. Open Division respectively. With her recent feat, Ma. Vanessa has qualified for the Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) to be held in the Philippines from November 30 - December 10, 2019.

She was chaperoned by Teacher James L. Webster and private coach Samuel A. Alegada of the Weightlifting Club of Tagbilaran City.
