UB VDTALC tankers romp to medals int’l youth swim tourney

Two swimmers of the UB Rockets Swimming Team both made a big splash in the pool after hauling gold, silver and bronze medals in the Madwave Challenge 2019 International Youth Tournament held last October 5-6, 2019 in Bacolod City.

Charllyn Allysa Romanos, a senior high school student of the UB Victoriano D. Tirol Advanced Learning Center (UB VDTALC), clinched six gold medals in the 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle, 100m breaststroke, 200m breaststroke, and 100m butterfly; and one bronze medal in the 200m individual medley. She was also awarded as the most outstanding swimmer in the 15-year-old and above age bracket.

During the same tourney, Anthony Jude Presas also of the UB Rockets bagged three gold medals in the 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle, and 1,500m freestyle; two silver medals in the 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke; and one bronze medal in the 100m backstroke.

The duo represented the UB Rockets Swimming Team, which ranked 8th overall out of the 16 participating teams.
