White cane safety day

In observance with the annual celebration of the White Cane Safety Day, in it's 30th year of existence with the theme: "Puting Baston, Simbolo ng Kalayaan ng Taong May Kapansanan sa Paningin Dapat Kilalanin, Igalang, at pagtibayin", the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) under the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office conducted a Sensitivity Orientation held last August 16, 2019 at the UB Instructional Media Center. This was attended by students under the BEED major in Special Education and Bachelor of Special Needs Education course program along with selected students who fortunately grasp the importance of the activity. The UBians were accompanied by The SNED Club Adviser, Ms. Jennifer C. Jumawid, BEED Program Chair Ms. Jelinda R. Fortich and BSED Program Chair Ms. Reinalda Josefina Gamutan. The activity was graced by Mr. Mateo S. Quilas from the PDAO, Ms. Reina Thea A. Damalerio, RSW the ADH/PWD Focal Person and Senior Citizens, and PHO PWD Focal Person Ms. Angelita A. Maleriado, RN who oriented the crowed on how to properly assist the visually impaired person. Other awareness programs was also embedded which made the day full of information such as "Teenage Pregnancy" done by Ms. Ma. Josiane Pepito, RN and "Healthy Lifestyle and Dengue Prevention" by Mr. Leonidas Saniel, RN. This is part of the activity's objective which is to raise further awareness on issues in society where the youth are greatly affected.
