UB graduating studes pay tribute to mentors

As a way of formally recognizing their teachers and other mentors, the University of Bohol (UB) graduating class of October 2018 hosted the Handuraw last October 19, 2018, at the UB Quadrangle.

Handuraw, a Bisayan term which means reminiscence, was a thanksgiving and remembering activity purposely crafted to pay tribute to the teachers who were responsible for helping the students transform their lives for a great future. It was co-sponsored by the student government, school administration and the UB/RPC Alumni Association, Inc. (UB/RPCAAI).

The program started with an invocation followed by the singing of hymns and a welcome message by Graduating Student Organization (GSO) President Dave Bautro. UB President Dr. Victoriano B. Tirol, III gave a message of gratitude while UB/RPC Alumni Association President Col. Cesar Pamaong led in welcoming the graduates to the alumni association. A heartwarming moment was the closing of the capsule of success. Inside the capsule were the individual students’ prophecies of themselves, of what they will become five years from now. The said capsule will be opened in the year 2023 during a reunion set for the purpose. A mass singing of the UB Hymn and the exchange of tokens between teachers and students then followed.

Present during the event were the deans of the different colleges, members of the Board of Trustees, and the officers of the alumni association. The ceremonies were ably hosted by Vidal Platino, Jr. and James Emmanuel Tabigue.
