UB CIs lead convenors of 2nd MCNAP confab

Bannering the theme, “Maternal and Child Nursing Beyond Borders to Attain Best Practices,” the Mother and Child Nurses Association of the Philippines, Inc. (MCNAP), held the second MCNAP convention last October 13, 2018, at JJ’s Seafood Village, K of C Drive, this city.

Melinda C. Pausanos RN, RM, MAN, DScN, President of MCNAP Bohol Chapter and Clinical Instructor of the University of Bohol - College of Nursing (UB – CON), disclosed that the convention was geared towards sharing knowledge on the updates beyond the borders of the profession. The participants included doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, midwives and other members of the healthcare team who are primarily engaged in the care of mothers and their children.

Gloria B. Arcos, PhD and member of the PRC Board of Nursing tackled Leadership and Governance in Maternal and Child Nursing Practice, Balbina M. Borneo, MAN, and MCNAP National President discussed Global Challenges for Maternal and Child Health: It’s Relevance to Sustainable Development; while Tyona Marie F. Gesite delved on Pediatric CPGs and Trending Issues.

Presently, the organization is under the stewardship of Melinda C. Pausanos RN, RM, MAN, DScN -President; UB – CON Dean Glory G. Roslinda, RN, MAN - VP for Plans & Program; Mae L. Polinar, RN, MAN - VP for Finance; Rose G. Daguman, RN, MAN – Secretary; Monette G. Cua, RN, MAN - Treasurer; Tyrone C. Hora, RN, MAN – Auditor; Meneleo G. Guibao, RN, MAN and Melotte Formilleza, RN, MAN - Press Relations Officers, UB College of Midwifery Dean Maria Lourdes B. Lañada RM, RN, MAN - NOMELEC, and Silvano G. Lugod - NOMELEC.

MCNAP is the premier Nursing organization in the Philippines tasked with maintaining and updating the standards of nursing practice in the country with specialization in maternal and child health. It also offers academic scholarships to deserving incoming Level III Nursing students. CON Dean Glory G. Roslinda endorsed two BSN III students to avail of the scholarship. They are in the process for approval upon passing the screening examination in Iloilo City and submission of the needed requirements.

All in all, it was a very successful event as the participants were unanimous in their glowing evaluation of the convention.
