SHS Stallions Crowned UB Days Champ

The University of Bohol once again celebrated its annual UB Days on September 8-15, 2018 with the theme, "Stronger…Greater…"

The weeklong extravaganza of sporting, academic, literary, musical and dance events saw the Senior High School (SHS) Stallions emerge triumphant as the over-all champion. The Stallions dominated the competitions to the tune of 41 golds, 43 silvers, and 27 bronzes. The College of Criminal Justice (CCJ) Tigers placed second with 31 golds, 19 silvers, and 25 bronzes while the Victoriano D. Tirol - Advanced Learning Center (VDT-ALC) Huskies won 26 golds, 14 silvers, and six bronzes to place third.

One of the highlights was the search for the Mister and Miss UB Personality 2018. Sean Rey Tupaz from the College of Engineering and Technology was crowned as Mister UB Personality while the beauteous Margarett Requillo of the College of Nursing was crowned as Miss UB Personality.

Caedmon Rodriguez (Mr. VDT-ALC) and JG Alyssa May Cagol (Ms. SHS) were the first runners-up, while Vince Nico Anquilero (Mr. Teachers College) and Julia Faith Joaquin (Ms. VDT-ALC) were the second runners-up. Jerome De Los Reyes (Mr. SHS) and Jean Kathleen Gran (Ms. College of Pharmacy) were the third runners-up, and finally, Rexter Lito Cadeliña (Mr. CCJ) and Abegail Gamutin (Miss CHMTN) were the fourth runners-up.

Sofila Gantalao, the SHS Principal while basking in the triumph of her department was very complimentary of the efforts of the other departments. "UB Days is a time to practice sportsmanship as we compete in areas of sports, academic, literary, music and the like. It is a time to unite as teams win or lose. It is a perfect opportunity to create friendships beyond our day-to-day acquaintances," said Gantalao.

This year's edition of the UB Days highlighted the importance of pursuing one's goals with courage and conviction, despite the difficult journey that may lie ahead. It is an apt reminder that reflects the fortitude of UBians as they take the next steps in transforming their lives for a great future.

The festivities were organized by the University of Bohol Supreme Student Government with the full support of the UB administration led by President Victoriano B. Tirol, III, faculty members, employees, alumni, and students. Despite the inclement weather, the events generally went smoothly. And after the smashing success of this year's UB Days, UBians are already eagerly anticipating next year's edition. - Elijah L. Sales/Jigs S. Señagan/John Michael Vincent C. Hattori
