Tirol ranks 1st in CVIRAA 2017 swim

Be-medalled Boholano swimmer Rian Marco “Mico” Adiong Tirol is again on the limelight when he ranked first in the competitive secondary boys division in swimming, during the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVRAA) Meet held on February 14-15, 2017 at Naga City Sports Complex, Cebu Province.

Amid successive schedule of different swimming events, Tirol maintained his stamina to clinch 3 gold medals in 200m individual medley, 200m breast stroke and 100m breast stroke. He also bagged 1` silver medal in 100m butterfly and 2 bronze medals in 100m freestyle and 4x200m medley relay. As observed, other teams fielded separate swimmers for each event.

On the same vein, fellow VDT-ALC swimmers who got medals in the individual events are Charllyn Romanos - 1 gold and 1 bronze ; Ocean Viosin 2 golds and 1 silver; Jovy Jaspe- 1 gold and 1 silver ;and Zoe Austral- 1 bronze.



Meanwhile, VDT-ALC swimmers who also got medals in the relay events are: Victoriano Martin Adiong Tirol IV, a younger brother of Mico, won 1 silver; Michael Jeffrey Real- 1 silver; Mia Morales- 1 silver and 1 bronze; Nadine Teh- 1 silver and 1 bronze; Jaryl Mahinay – 1 silver and 1 bronze; Jummel Jaspe- 1 bronze; and Jess Kenneth Omac – 1 bronze.

The UB swimmers were personally escorted by Team Manager Dr. Victoriano B. Tirol, III and his wife Dr. Maricel Adiong-Tirol, UB Treasurer , both parents of the Tirol brothers.

In a related development, Zachie Lacea, also a VDT-ALC student harvested 2 gold medals in Table Tennis elementary division, single and double categories.

The medalists will see action in the forthcoming 2017 Palarong Pambansa slated to be held on April 23-29 this year in Antique Province.
