UB Criminology/SSKI Karate-do Team Gilab reigns Bohol PRISAA

It’s a seal of excellence for Team Gilab of the University of Bohol/Sphinx Shotokan Karate-do International as it clinched the over-all championship title in Karate-do for the third time during the Bohol Provincial Private Schools Athletic Association Tournament held last January 28, 2017 at UB gymnasium this city.

Reigning supreme during the martial arts competition, the team hauled 17 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze medals . Individual players who contributed medals are, Charise Fostanes – 3 gold, Princess Genlyn Bompat – 3 gold, Marie Therese Francoise Saco – 2 gold, Jessa Manila – 1 gold, 1 silver, Elle Christine Quipanes – 1 gold, Jenra Sajulga – 2 gold, 1 bronze, Mark Anthony Piquero – 2 gold, 1 bronze,Neil Adrian Matalines – 2 gold, Michael Gerard Melicor – 1 gold, 1 bronze, Alfredo Galon Jr. – 1 gold, Jesielou Tutor – 1 silver, Christian Busca – 1 bronze, Serniel John Palua – 1 bronze, Jaylou Patrocinio – 1 bronze, Jeno James – 1 bronze, and Edwin Vallente – 1 bronze.




The powerhouse team is under head coach Sonny Alvarez Sensei and Dean Jesus C. Acullador, PCI (Ret), with Criminologist Marven B. Jumawid as assistant coach.

Tailing behind Team Gilab is Bohol Northern Star College (BNSC) – 9 gold, 7 silver and 9 bronze medals; Bohol Institute of Technology-IC (BIT-IC) – 1 gold and 13 silver medals. The Tournament was also participated in by Holy Name University (HNU), Mater Dei College and Philippine Maritime Academy (PMI).
