UB students conduct first research festival on tourism

Graduating students of the University of Bohol Tourism and Hotel & Restaurant Management successfully conducted the first student research festival with the theme, Enriching Bohol tourism industry towards glocalization through academic research, in June 20, 2016 at the UB Information Resource Center.

Considered as a debut research undertaking of students of the College of Hospitality Management, Tourism & Nutrition (CHMTN), the activity was formally opened with prayer and hymns led by Engr. Reinalda Josephine Gamutan, followed by a welcome address given by UB President Atty. Nuevas T. Montes and a statement of purpose by Dean Maria Asuncion Laxa-Bersabal of CHTMN. Mr. Charles Erwin M. Juico, college professor, introduced Atty. Lucas M. Nunag, Bohol Provincial Tourism Council Chairman, as keynote speaker. The summary of abstracts was presented by Dr. Lumin T. Pamaran, vice president for academics.




After the program , parallel presentation of studies were conducted in two separate venues:

  5. Employability trends among University of Bohol-College of Hospitality Management, Tourism and Nutrition.

  1. Comparative analysis on the quality of service in Anda, Bohol as perceived by local and foreign tourists
  2. Perception of the Boholanos on the safety and security of public transportation in the province of Bohol
  3. Satisfaction among sea passengers on the availability of facilities and customer service of the new Tagbilaran seaport terminal
  4. Knowledge, attitude and practicum on solid waste management among the villagers in Panglao, Bohol
  5. Cultural mapping in Toril, Maribojoc as an eco-cultural tourism destination in Bohol: basis for marketing approach.

Declared winners are, Best Abstract - “Assessment of food sanitation practices among school canteen tenants in University of Bohol SY 2016-2017” and “Satisfaction among sea passengers on the availability of facilities and customer service of the new Tagbilaran seaport terminal”, Best Presentors– Josephine Azcuna on “Discovering what more than meets the eye: locally made cuisine in Bohol – a documentary “ and Jennifer Panaginip on “ Knowledge, attitude and practicum on solid waste management among the villager in Panglao, Bohol”, Best Research Paper – “Employability Trends Among UB-CHMTN Graduates” and “Cultural Mapping in Toril, Maribojoc as an eco-cultural tourism destination in Bohol: Basic marketing approach”.

Also in attendance during the research festival were Prof. Reinerio Real, representing Gov. Edgar Chatto, Mr. Christopher Boncales, Bohol Provincial Tourism Office Staff , Miss Jica Pacatang , UB Research Associate and Dean Felita Torrero of the College of Pharmacy.
