College of Criminology retains championship title

WE ARE THE CHAMPION! - The College of Criminology students with the official department banner display their trophies and medals after the awarding rites held at the UB quadrangle on September 19, 2014. The department successfully defended the over-all championship title for four consecutive years.

The song, We are the champions, again filled the air as the College of Criminology successfully defended for the fourth time in a row, the title as over-all champion of the 2014 UB Days celebration.The power-packed college which is touted as the home of the champions proved its worth when it consistently took the lead from day one up to the last day of the athletic competitions with other departments only taking turns in tailing them.


The Victoriano D. Tirol-Advanced Learning Center which came 1st runner up made a surprise entrance to the top three posts after it unleashed its prowess in the pool. VDT-ALC bagged all the gold medals in the 16 swimming events played at the Olympic size swimming pool in addition to 2 gold medals in debate and 1 gold medal in the UB Personality contest. The College of Business and Accountancy which is known for its strong netters landed 2nd runner up.

Per category tally, the College of Architecture & Fine Arts (CAFA) got 1st place in Academic & Literary followed by VDT-ALC – 2nd and College of Engineering and Technology – 3rd. In Music & Arts, Teachers College- 1st,CAFA -2nd and College of Liberal Arts – 3rd. Sports category, College of Criminology- 1st, VDT-ALC-2nd and College of Business and Accountancy- 3rd. The department who got the most number of gold medals is declared the over-all champion.
