UB VDT-ALC tankers break PSL records, haul medals

Two swimmers from the University of Bohol Victoriano D. Tirol-Advanced Learning Center broke records of the Philippine Swimming League (PSL) during its 59th Long Course National Championship held last June 28-29, 2014 at Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, Malate, Manila.

Rian Marco Adiong-Tirol, who swam for 6 gold and 1 silver medals set new records of 32.40 seconds in 50m breast stroke and 114.36 seconds in 100m. breast stroke , breaking the previous record time of 34.65(50m breast stroke) and 114.74(100m breast stroke) held by Mc Tracy Alindugan of the National Capital Region. Fellow swimmer Lowie Valencia who bagged 4 gold and 2 silver medals also established a new record of 129.56 seconds in 100m butterfly out-dating the previous 143.44 sec. record time.

Both Tirol and Valencia were awarded Most Outstanding Swimmers in their respective categories and are qualified to swim for the Bangkok International Meet on November in Bangkok, Thailand. Other swimmers who participated in during the 59th Philippine Swimming League Long Course Championship are Jaycee Mariel Amoyo, Jovy Claire Jaspe, Francine Marih Bibat, Angelo Noel Gallego and Alexandrei Noel Gallego.

The UB Rockets Swimming Team under the stewardship of Dr. Victoriano B. Tirol, III, team manager ,already carved a cliché of its name in international, national and local swimming competitions. Its home base at UB VDT-ALC, Taloto Campus nestled an Olympic size swimming pool where potentials swimmers are hone with the skills. The team is professionally supervised by five-time PalarongPambansa Coach Vincent Indig.
