UB NSTP conducts drug symposium

In a bid to strengthen the anti-drug abuse campaign in the campus, the University of Bohol successfully conducted another tranche of drug symposium to its students under the National Service Training Program (NSTP) - Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS), last August 10, 2019, at the UB Gymnasium.

Cesar J. Merencillo, NSTP Officer-in-Charge gave the opening remarks followed by a talk that was centered on the theme, YOUTH: Change Begins from Within.

Agent Manny Cyril F. Sagal of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) gave a brief background of PDEA and discussed the salient features of R.A. 9165 including the ill effects of drugs to the individual person and society. Agent Sagal likewise shared some pointers to the participants on how to resist the pressure to use drugs.

After the open forum, impressions, and reflections of activity, Francis Paul Butal, a NTSP-CWTS Instructor, gave the closing remarks.

The student activity is geared to provide students with knowledge on the danger of drug abuse, enhance competencies to resist the temptation of drugs, and awareness on the effects of illegal drugs on an individual's health and future.
