UB alum is new AFP chaplain

It has always been a source of great pride for the university to see its alumni become achievers in many different fields over the years. Once again, the university beams with pride as another one of its former students reaches the pinnacle of their profession.

Rev. Fr. Raul S. Ciño, a graduate of the University of Bohol Day High School, has been designated by Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana of the Department of National Defense as the Chief Chaplain of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) effective July 29, 2019.

A native of Manga District, Tagbilaran City, Fr. Raul or Payoy as he is fondly called by his Class 1982 batchmates and teachers, is currently serving as the Chief Chaplain of the Philippine Army. Fr. Raul’s designation was actually signed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte last June 11, 2019. With his new designation, the Boholano priest rises to the rank of a one-star general in the AFP.
