UB bags awards in int’l interdisciplinary research confab

The University of Bohol (UB) showed its commitment to further raise the bar of institutional and academic research by cohosting the recent 3rd International Conference on Interdisciplinary Research in Higher Education (or ICIRHE 2019) last July 18-20, 2019 at the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The conference which had the theme “Bridging Research to the Fourth Industrial Revolution” brought research practitioners from across Asia and served as an ideal platform for the participants to disseminate research results in various fields for greater utilization and promote academic integrity in research and publication. It also aimed to foster collaboration among researchers and institutions in the promotion and production of researches and to recognize meritorious contributions of researchers and institutions.

Dr. Leah Wilfreda Echavez-Pilongo, UB’s Dean of Research was one of the plenary speakers during the first day while Charity Esmero of the UB Teachers College served as master of ceremonies for the entire event.

The second day saw organizers led by the International Association of Scholarly Publishers, Editors, & Reviewers hand out awards to the individual researchers and institutions who made an impression on the judges and those in attendance.

UB was awarded the Outstanding Research Productivity Award while Dr. Jerome Magallen, a faculty member of the UB Graduate School won Best in Oral Presentation for his study entitled “Religiosity, Spirituality and Life Satisfaction in Relation to Teachers' Service Quality.”

These recent awards continue a trend of research-based recognition that the university has received for this year. The university had also been previously awarded the 2019 Fr. Theodore Murnane Research Commitment Award during the 4th Annual Central Visayas Research and Innovation Conference last May 9, 2019, at the Cebu Institute of Technology - University in Cebu City.

UB was recognized by the organizers led by the Department of Science and Technology, the Central Visayas Consortium for Health Research and Development and the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development for its commitment to raise community awareness of the importance and relevance of health research.

These awards further burnish UB’s research credentials, giving it added motivation as it aims to host its own national research festival in the near future.
