Tirol kin sets new RP record, nabs silver in SEA age swim meet

Rian Marco Adiong Tirol, a former team captain of the University of Bohol Rockets Swimming Team delivered another sensational performance in the pool by winning the silver medal in the 50-meter breaststroke (16-18 boys) event at the 43rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Age Group Swimming Championship this June 28-30, 2019 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Clocking in at a blazing time of 29.37 seconds, the Boholano swimming sensation broke his own Philippine national junior record of 29.54 seconds which he set last March in the Singapore Age Group swimming competition. The RP junior team stalwart also broke the SEA Age Championship record in the 50m breaststroke (16-18 boys) event. Tirol also solidified his slot in this year’s SEA Games senior championships by surpassing the qualifying time of 29.40 with his time of 29.37. The upcoming SEA games this December, which the Philippines will host, is a qualifying meet for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Rian Marco or “Mico” as he is known, is the second child of UB President Victoriano B. Tirol, III and UB Vice President for Finance Maricel Adiong Tirol.
