VDT-ALC student qualifies in 3 national swim finals

Victoriano Martin A. Tirol IV, grade 7 student of the Victoriano D. Tirol-Advanced Learning Center (VDT-ALC) , has made his way up to the national finals of the 2019 Batang Pinoy after winning 4 silver medals in the Visayas Qualifying Leg (Swimming Event) held last February 23-March 2, 2019 in Iloilo City.

Tirol, aged 13 and the youngest in the pack, clinched silver medals in 50m breast stroke, 100m breast stroke, 200m breast stroke, and 4x50m medley relay. He swam against the older opponents aged 14 to 15 from other regions. With the recent feat, Tirol will qualify for the National Batang Pinoy 2019 which is scheduled on October this year. Batang Pinoy is the national youth sports competition of the Philippines for athletes under 15 years of age.

Earlier in February 2019, Tirol with fellow swimmers Ocean Inaki, Charllyn Allysa Romanos, Jaryl Mahinay and Zoe Austral were included in the team line up along with swimmers from other schools, to compete in the 2019 National PRISAA on May 18-25, 2019 in Davao City.

During the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Swimming Competition held last February 17-22, 2019 in Dumaguete City, Tirol also bagged a silver medal and qualified for the Palarong Pambansa on April 2019 in Davao City.

Victoriano Martin Adiong Tirol is a member of the UB Rockets Swimming Team. He is the youngest son of UB President Dr. Victoriano B. Tirol III and Dr. Maricel Adiong-Tirol, UB Vice President for Finance.
