UB Nursing cohosts Int’l Nurses Research Confab

The University of Bohol - College of Nursing (UB-CON) recently co-hosted the 8th International Conference of Nurses (ICONS 8) Research Forum last November 23, 2018, at Marco Polo Plaza, Cebu City. The conference which had the theme "Reshaping Towards Quality Health Care Practices Through Research-Informed innovations" drew nurse researchers from across the country and participants from Hongkong and Japan. It provided an avenue for dissemination of scholarly findings among professional and student nurses around the globe as well as to share expertise and practices in the conduct of nursing research.
For its part, the UB-CON sent a seven-person contingent which included three senior Nursing students who presented their research studies during the confab.
In the podium presentation professional category, Dr. Sharon M. Lupio presented her research work entitled "Acceptance/rejection to Death Vary Among Older Adults" while Michael Anthony G. Galaura presented his group's research work titled "Lived Experiences of Families Having A Member with Mental Disorder" in the podium presentation-student category. Meanwhile, the group research works of William Erik N. Karcher and Jeanica Mae I. Torrefranca titled "Coping Behaviors and Readiness of Young Parents" and "Self-care Practices on the Prevention of Complications of Diabetes" were exhibited in the infographic’s competition.
The podium presenters were given their respective time to share their research findings to the audience, and poster presenters were asked to provide a poster, with all the vital information of their research to be visualized on large monitors. This is a new method in presenting research, as it provokes interest, designed flawlessly as an infographic, worded in its simplest form for all viewers to appreciate and understand.
The participation of the UB-CON contingent is a testament to the robust research culture of the university which has firmly established itself in international forums and conferences on research. The College of Nursing led by Dean Glory G. Roslinda were very thankful for University's support in giving its faculty and students the opportunity to present their hard work for the betterment of the community.
