UB hosts 2018 City Schools Press Confab

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol - Budding journalists from over 39 elementary and secondary in both public and private schools in Tagbilaran City, proved their journalistic mettle again as they convened for the annual Tagbilaran City Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) last October 15-16, 2018. This year's event which had the theme: "Fostering 21st Century Skills and Character-Based Education through Campus Journalism," was hosted by the University of Bohol for the first time.

Hannah Faith Cosmod, editor-in-chief of The Penmasters, the official student publication of the University of Bohol - Junior High School (UB-JHS) and El Niño Oliver Avelino hosted the opening program. Grace G. Filomeno, the UB-JHS Principal, welcomed the participants and Dr. Janice Aurora Tirol-Namoc, Dean of the Student Personnel Services of the university gave a message in behalf of the University President Dr. Victoriano B. Tirol, III. The heads from the Department of Education also took part in welcoming the participants during the opening program.

Both UB's Elementary and Secondary levels and the Victoriano D. Tirol - Advance Learning Center's Elementary and Secondary levels harvested medals during the said conference. Listed below are the levels, categories, and winners:

Meanwhile, the closing program was hosted by Jacobe Joaquin M. Sevilla, the editor-in-chief of The Achievers VDT-ALC's official student publication. The top 5 placers in the various categories will qualify for the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) to be held at Balamban, Cebu on November 2018.
