VDT-ALC goes Aralinks

Promoting the 21st century learning through dynamic and effective synthesis of pedagogy, technology, and learning spaces, the University of Bohol Victoriano D. Tirol-Advance Learning Center has forged a contract with Phoenix Aralinks to help develop a digital learning culture in the institution.

Dr. Eudoxita C. Lomaad, ChE, school principal, disclosed that blending the traditional teaching methodology of VDT-ALC with ARAlinks technology programs will give enough leverage for teachers to adapt, modify and revise the contents of the program to make it suitable and more sophisticated to classroom teaching. The merging encourages greater participation and interaction from students in Grades 2 and 12. Written examinations are still conducted in the classrooms.

Phoenix ARALinks to which VDT-ALC has adopted, is a holistic instructional technology integration program for innovative teaching and effective learning. It is a blend of relevant digital resources, appropriate technology, customized faculty training, and reliable support – critical elements in building next generation. Under Phoenix ARALinks Program Technology on Next Generation School or NGS, the schools are ready to turn every classroom into an authentic collaboration hub where ubiquitous use of technology is a norm. It takes eLearning to a mobile level.

Apart from assessment and activities, teachers and students use the tablet in innovative ways to exhibit learning and mastery of skills. The program includes: Yearlong Consultancy, Yearlong Faculty Development Program, Technology (tablet computers, mobile eLearning cart, server unit, and Wi-Fi access points), K-12 Resources, Lesson Templates, Activity Builders, Educational Technologist, Integration Facilitator, and Learning Management System.

To date, VDT has 90 units of tablets capable of simultaneously handling 3-4 classrooms with a pupil teacher ratio of 25-30 students per class.
