UB Opens its Doors for Immersion of Korean Students

A group of eight Education students and two professors from CK Team for Early Literacy Education of Hoseo University in South Korea recently sat down with the University of Bohol (UB) President Dr. Ryan Tirol, Dean Carolina Belarmino of the Teacher's College, Grade School Principal Jean Efieda Cirunay and Ms. Jelinda Fortich, Program Chair for Elementary Education. The parties agreed to cooperate and exchange services for early literacy education based on Korean culture.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed to facilitate further discussion and deliberation on the exchange of students and faculty, academic materials and publication for research education, invitations to seminars and training and other projects of mutual interest. The Korean students and their professors will be in UB from July 3 to July 6 to interact with the staff, faculty, and students of UB. They aim to establish and promote cooperation in the fields of education and technology based on the principle of reciprocity and equality.

The group then went to the Victoriano D. Tirol - Advanced Learning Center to interact with and interview the students and faculty. The student interns of the Teacher’s College were the lucky recipients of pre-school classroom instructional materials from Hoseo University. They were given training on some activities which they can apply to the classes they handle. In return, the Korean students observed some of the best teaching practices from the University of Bohol that they could bring along and adopt in their classes.
